About
Prior to joining the Broncho community, Larson worked at The University of Texas at Tyler and The University of North Texas teaching literacy education courses for future teachers while completing her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction with a specialization in languages and literacy. She is now an assistant professor of English education and the co-chair of the English Education program at UCO.
Before working in higher education, Dr. Larson started her career teaching high school English in and around the Dallas- Fort Worth area. After more than 10 years at the high school, she moved to school administration where she worked as an administrator for a junior high campus.
Dr. Larson's current research uses a complexity lens to examine the many factors that affect adolescent literacy instruction-- including state-mandated assessments, book choice and reading selection, and standardized curriculum.
