About

Alissa Ball Crawford is a proud graduate of three Oklahoma universities: Oklahoma Christian, Oklahoma City University, and The University of Oklahoma. She holds degrees in Elementary Education, Gifted and Talented Education and a Ph.D in Instructional Psychology and Technology. She works in the department of Educational Sciences, Foundations and Research in the College of Educational and Professional Studies as an Assistant Professor and has taught at UCO since 2011.

Dr. Crawford has 27 years of experience in educating Oklahoma students and teachers.  She is certified to teach in Elementary Educations, Middle School Science and Gifted and Talented Education.  She has worked in highly diverse educational settings in the Norman, Oklahoma City and Edmond Public School districts.  Her teaching career includes nine years in public education and one year in private school.  After the birth of her twin boys she joined the Oklahoma A+ Schools network as a fellow and promoted to regional coordinator where she served in this role for five years working in professional development with network schools and teachers throughout the state.  She left OKA+ to teach as an adjunct at UCO where she was coerced by the ESFR department to pursue her doctorate, which she completed in 2018. She is currently in her dream job preparing future Oklahoma teachers.

Dr. Crawford’s  non-academic life includes sharing happy days with her husband and her twin boys. An avid traveler she routinely makes it her goal to spend as much time in cooler climates as possible. She enjoys snow skiing, hiking, reading, crochet, cooking and time spent laughing with friends and family.
