Experience

With more than 25 years at UCO, Robert Epstein has served in numerous roles. He currently is the chair of the Management Department and teaches innovation and entrepreneurship.  For 17 years, he was the editor of the Central Business Review, a national refereed research journal. He served as the faculty director of the MBA Program and as an AVP of admin services. He took on additional responsibilities as director of UCO purchasing, director of the Institute for Community Culture and Education, interim director of Campus Life, and director of the Center of Urban Economic and Business Analysis, all while teaching full time. With the help of over 100 people at UCO, he founded TEDxUCO.

During his tenure at UCO, Epstein has engaged in consulting and entrepreneurial activities. He has been certified as an emergency responder, quality examiner, a competent toastmaster, and a consultant for Oklahoma Technology Commercialization Center.

Before joining UCO, Epstein was a visiting assistant professor of telecommunications at Michigan State University and an adjunct professor at SUNY-Albany. He worked for 15 years in private industry in roles of basic research (Bell Labs), management (AT&T), executive leadership (Nutmeg Bakers Supply and Abel’s), and training and consulting (Next Step).
