Chris Seaton began teaching at UCO in August, 2017 after serving 25 years in the U.S. Army and retiring as a sergeant major. Mr. Seaton spent the vast majority of his military career working in broadcasting and public relations.
During various periods between 1997 and 2012, he spent more than eight years working in both Germany and South Korea for the American Forces Network – the largest geographically dispersed media network in the world. His duties ranged from morning radio show host to television producer to station manager, finally culminating as operations chief for the American Forces Network Europe in 2012.
Chris has a great deal of professional experience in strategic and corporate communications. He has served multiple executive roles such as chief of public affairs for the Army’s aviation activities in Europe from 2007-2009; chief of community relations for the Defense Department’s largest joint base in Tacoma, Washington from 2013 to 2015; and as assistant director of public affairs for the Army in South Korea from 2015 to 2017.
He has a Master of Arts in Leadership Studies from the University of Texas at El Paso, a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Thomas Edison State University and an Associate’s degree in Journalism from Rose State College. He lives in Piedmont with his wife Melissa and their three daughters, Libby, Alli and Katie.
