After more than 20 years as an anchor, reporter and news director in Seattle and Oklahoma City, Johnson joined Central in 2000 as the News Bureau Director, and was named as Executive Director of University Communications in 2007. In 2010, Charlie was named Vice President for University Communications, and is an active member of the President's Cabinet, the Crisis Management Team, the University Planning Committee and is involved in a number of other university-wide initiatives and committees.
Charlie oversees and supervises all activities and personnel in the University Communications office, serves as the university spokesperson and is directly involved in Central's media relations, as well as branding and marketing efforts for the university. He also oversees UCO's Photographic Services as well as the university's classical radio station, KUCO. Johnson also serves his community as an active member of the Edmond Urban Development Board. He earned a Masters in Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Central Oklahoma, and his undergraduate degree is in Speech Communications from the University of Minnesota.
