About

Landon Jackson is an adjunct professor for the Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies and is also a personal trainer/group exercise instructor for the UCO Wellness Center. Jackson loves health and fitness with a burning passion! He is from Ada, Oklahoma, where his health and fitness craft all began! Jackson has always been known as the fitness guy or the trainer with a lot of energy. He brings a strong energy to the table because he loves to inspire and motivate others to keep pushing forward. "Believe in yourself" is a phrase he loves to use, along with, "keep your eyes on what lies before you." Jackson uses these because we need to be reminded to believe in ourselves, even though the thought may seem easy for some, other people might not see the goal the same as you. Positive affirmations lead to positive outcomes. We have to keep our eyes on what lies before us, not behind us, or beside us, but focus on the goal in front of us! He encourages everyone to be aware and focus on their health because our body is a temple. You only get one. Your health is an investment, not an expense, but your health will become an expense if you don't start investing in your health, longevity, and well-being.

Experience

  • 2011 is when I started to pursue my health and fitness journey. For years, I organized and periodized workouts for my friends to help us progress our overall fitness levels. From weight loss to strength gains and body pains to no pains, I pursued goals for us in the ways we needed!
  • In 2014, I became certified by ACE as a Personal Trainer. From here, I began training at home gyms, parks, and open fields with any equipment I could provide to get a good workout that is enjoyable and different from your average workout. I always loved to separate myself and be creative with the workouts I provide because it keeps everyone engaged without repeating the same routine, which can lead to someone quitting their program.
  • I have four years of experience in personal training and group exercise for corporate gyms such as Mercy Fitness Center/EXOS and Gold's Gym.
  • I have been a professor at UCO for three years now.
  • I'm also currently a group exercise instructor and personal trainer at the UCO Wellness Center.
