About
Mike Breslin has more than 30 years of journalism, public relations and strategic communications experience in agency, government, nonprofit and academic environments. He has been on the strategic communications program faculty in the Department of Mass Communications at the University of Central Oklahoma since 2011.
Experience
Prior to teaching, Breslin was a senior communications counselor for more than 25 years. His focus was public relations and strategic communications in agency, government, nonprofit and academic environments. He specialized in corporate communications, crisis communications, litigation communications, media training, messaging and strategy development.
His industry experience included technology (multiple sectors), telecommunications, insurance, health care, pharmaceuticals, nonprofit/advocacy and aerospace. He worked with companies and organizations including the American Lung Association, Continental Airlines, Wyeth, Reliant Energy, Cingular Wireless (now AT&T), Nokia, Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, TIG Insurance, GTE (now Verizon), Ericsson and the U.S. Air Force.

Teaching Philosophy
Emphasis on hands-on teaching.
While lecture and other more passive forms of instruction are also necessary, student's learning experiences are most impactful when they have the opportunity to put the concepts and ideas being taught to practical use.
