About
I have always been fascinated by languages and language learning. I majored in English and German at Indiana University, and received an M.S. in Teaching English as a Second Language from Georgia State University in 1998. For the next six years, I taught English in Ankara and Istanbul, Turkey, where I also taught myself Turkish. In 2012, I received my Ph.D. in English with a concentration on Second Language Studies and Linguistics from Purdue University. My research focuses on the influence of a first language on learning a second language, as well as the psycholinguistics of second language learning.
