Important Update:

Consistent with revised CDC guidance, vaccinated individuals are recommended to wear a mask when in public indoor spaces where COVID-19 virus transmission is considered substantial or high. Oklahoma County is currently listed as an area of high transmission by the CDC. The CDC further recommends that unvaccinated individuals continue to wear a mask when around others indoors, regardless of their area’s rate of transmission.

Assistant Director Metadata & Cataloging

University of Central Oklahoma

Shay Beezley leads the Metadata & Cataloging department, a team of five full-time and up to four student employees, in providing accurate, effective and timely access to the UCO Chambers Library’s resources. Metadata & Cataloging is dedicated to the library’s mission of connecting the Central community to dynamic resources that support transformative learning by cultivating a collaborative environment that supports thoughtful and conscientious consideration of bibliographic description, subject analysis, and emerging methods of metadata application.

Shay currently chairs the Library Digital Initiatives Working Group whose focus is developing and promoting the library's digital collections.

As a professional librarian, Shay also leads collection development efforts for the Department of English and the Department of Modern Languages. Her primary focus in collection development for these areas is increasing historically underrepresented and marginalized voices in the library's collections.

Outside of the library, Shay enjoys practicing her amateur photography skills, visiting museums (especially art museums and small, niche museums) and checking off "Places Visited" on Atlas Obscura..
