About

Laura Butler Claussen, M. Ed, serves as the director of Public Affairs and Leadership in Leadership Central at the University of Central Oklahoma. In this role, she focuses on leadership development, civic engagement and public affairs initiatives. Butler chairs TEDxUCO and TEDxUCOWomen, through TED Talks, to promote learning and the sharing of ideas within communities. She also serves as adjunct faculty and advises multiple student organizations including the American Democracy Project and Leadership Central scholarship groups: President’s Leadership Council and Leaders of Tomorrow. 

Butler began her professional career in marketing in the California Central Coast before changing career focus. Her professional experiences have focused in programmatic, leadership and individual development; advocacy; policy analysis and Alternative Dispute Resolution practices. Prior to joining the University of Central Oklahoma, Butler served in judicial affairs adjudicating cases and developing methods to best meet the demands of the community while promoting ethical learning.
