Administrative Assistant III

University of Central Oklahoma

Experience

I have been working in higher education administration as a member of college support staff for fourteen years. I began my career in Recruitment and Admissions at Oklahoma City Community College in 2006 and worked as the secretary for the Dean of Arts & Humanities at Oklahoma City Community College from 2008-2014. I have served as the Administrative Assistant for the Political Science Department at the University of Central Oklahoma since November 2014 and just celebrated five years of service at this wonderful university! I love working in higher education and do not see myself leaving any time soon.

Education and Certifications

I graduated with an Associate of Arts in Spanish at Oklahoma City Community College in 2013 and a Bachelor of Arts in Substance Abuse Studies from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2018. I am currently pursuing a Master of Sociology in Addictions Counseling at the University of Central Oklahoma.

Professional and Community Involvement

I work weekends at an emergency shelter for children in Oklahoma City called Family Junction. It is owned by a non-profit organization called Pivot. I also participate in transporting rescue animals to their new homes across the United States through an organization called Doobert.

Interests

In my free time I take classes in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Krav Maga (Israeli self-defense) at a martial arts studio in Edmond, Oklahoma. I also participate in power-lifting and Ashtanga yoga, enjoy writing poetry, and have played guitar for 19 years.
