UCO has temporarily shifted most in-person classes to synchronous virtual delivery through Jan. 31. Campus facilities and services will remain open and offer in-person and virtual options. COVID-19 protocols remain in place. Masks are required on campus when around others. Students, faculty and staff who are directly exposed to or test positive for COVID-19 should fill out UCO's COVID-19 Self-Reporting form. To learn more about current operations, view the university's coronavirus webpage.
Mehmet Aktas, Ph.D.
Mehmet Aktas is an assistant professor and John T. Beresford Endowed Chair in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Central Oklahoma. His research is on the study of the topology of curve complements and topological data analysis. He studies combinatorial invariants of the topology of curve complements, develops efficient algorithms to compute the invariants and combines theoretical results with computational methods. His research in topological data analysis integrates statistical concepts and computational topology concepts to analyze a given data. Mehmet received his Ph.D. in 2017 from the Department of Mathematics at Florida State University under the supervision of Eriko Hironaka. He received an MS in 2011 from the Department of Mathematics at Bilkent University working with Alex Degtyarev.
