About
Eric Hoefer is an associate professor of art at the University of Central Oklahoma, where he teaches courses in hand-built and wheel-thrown ceramic art. While growing up in upstate New York, he developed his passion for the arts. Hoefer’s formal education in fine arts began at the Munson-Williams-Proctor Art Institute in Utica, New York. His artistic studies continued and he obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. After graduation, he pursued post-baccalaureate studies at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, and then spent one year working in Tom Coleman's Studio and Gallery located in Las Vegas, Nevada. He received a Master of Fine Arts in ceramics at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois. He completed a one-year, artist-in-residency at the Craft Alliance in St. Louis, Missouri. Currently, Hoefer's research as a ceramic artist involves creating soda and wood-fired architectonic porcelain vessels. Teaching in higher education for more than 10 years has allowed him to share his knowledge with his students and individuals in his local community. He continues to exhibit his work throughout the United States.
