Claire Painter
Associate Director Student Lead
About
Claire Painter holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Oklahoma. After graduation, Painter began her professional career as a first-grade teacher in Norman Public Schools. While she enjoyed teaching, she realized that her true passion rested in working with college-age students, which led her to pursue a master’s degree in adult and higher education with an emphasis in student affairs from the University of Oklahoma. She is currently taking her education one step further by pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in educational leadership and policy studies at Oklahoma State University.
Prior to joining the UCO family, Painter served as a programs specialist and campus tour coordinator in OU Graduate Student Life. While in Graduate Student Life, her focus was on creating events and programs that met the broad spectrum of professional, social and academic needs of graduate students.
As associate director of student leadership, Painter advises the President’s Leadership Council and Leaders of Tomorrow, UCO Leadership Academy, TEDxUCO and the OKC Leaders in Training program. She also manages department study tours. Painter serves as an adjunct faculty member on campus in conjunction with the leadership minor. She also serves as the program director for the George and Donna Nigh Leadership Academy, a program produced in partnership with the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education involving delegates from each Oklahoma college/university. Painter is active within the metro community by participating in multiple community boards and organizations, including the Edmond Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Edmond, Youth Leadership Edmond, Leadership Oklahoma City's LOYAL (Linking OKC's Young Adult Leaders), Edmond VIBES volunteer committee and the Junior League of Oklahoma City.
When she’s not on campus, you can find her enjoying the lake with her family, watching movies, searching for the best queso in the metro, going on walks with her husband, Sam, and dog, Mabel, or curating new playlists on Spotify.
