University of Central Oklahoma-based Oklahoma A+ Schools (OKA+) will host “Building On... 10 Years of Success and Creativity,” a statewide seminar that offers teachers of grades 3-12 a transformative learning experience allowing participants to place themselves at the center of their own active and reflective learning experiences.

The conference is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Reed Conference Center in Midwest City.

Participants will have the opportunity to hear from provocative thought-leaders about building better schools and then separate in to groups to build responses through the lenses of visual arts, music and movement, theatre, creative process, leadership, or technology. They will also work with specialists in the fields to expand understanding and make personal connections.

Registration is free for faculty and staff in OKA+ network member schools, and costs $25 for OKA+ associate member schools/Central students, faculty and staff and $75 for non-network members.

Online registration closes at 6 p.m. Oct. 2, but registration is available by phone by calling 405-974-3779.

Since 2002, the OKA+ network has provided the state’s only research-based whole school reform model and supports schools throughout the state that encourage creativity, innovation and critical thinking.

OKA+ provides schools with ongoing professional development, an intricate network of support and an active research component conducted by university professors.

Spanning the state and growing every year, the network of 72 schools represents early childhood education through high school in urban, suburban and rural Oklahoma communities.
