The University of Central Oklahoma’s Housing and Dining Office will host fun student events during move-in week, Aug. 10-14 as a part of its back to school celebration.

Central encourages incoming students to live on campus. Some perks of living on campus include easy access to dining options and Tutoring Central and being close to class and professors. In fact, many studies indicate that students who live on campus make better grades and are more satisfied with their college experience.

“The best way to experience college at UCO is to Live Central.  You will make life-long friendships as well as a support system for success while living on campus,” said Josh Deacon, associate director of Housing and Dining.

The week kicks off Saturday Aug. 10 with students’ first opportunity to move in to their dorms. Students can move in anytime between 9 a.m. - midnight, Aug. 10-17. Central staff members strongly encourage students to arrive early and to not leave cars parked in front of buildings.

Those who move in Aug. 10 are invited to dine with their families at a reduced cost at the Housing and Dining Cookout at Buddy’s Cafeteria beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Residents can cool off at 6 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 11 with an ice cream social and water war, a water fight with water guns and a “slip ‘n slide,” in the Commons/Suites courtyard.

Students can enjoy an outdoor movie at 9 p.m., Monday, Aug. 12 also in the courtyard.

A large game of “capture the flag” will take place at 9 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 13 at Murdaugh Hall.

Events will conclude at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 14 with the Central Block Bash in the Commons/Suites courtyard. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion will co-host this event with Housing and Dining.
