The University of Central Oklahoma will celebrate the achievements of approximately 2,183 graduates, including 467 summer graduates, during the Spring 2014 Commencement Ceremonies May 9-10 in Hamilton Field House.

State Rep. T.W. Shannon will address graduates at the 3 p.m. ceremony on Friday, May 9, and U.S. Rep. James Lankford will address graduates at the 10 a.m. ceremony on Saturday, May 10. UCO President Don Betz, Ph.D., will offer comments at each of the university’s five ceremonies.

Prior to the graduation ceremonies, each student is encouraged to attend his or her college reception celebrating and congratulating them on their achievement.

The 2013-2014 academic year marks the beginning of a “greener” graduation at Central. All of the gowns used during the ceremonies are completely recyclable, and while graduates are encouraged to keep their caps and tassels to commemorate their accomplishments, bins will be available throughout Hamilton Field House to collect used gowns. The program is a continuation of Central’s campus-wide sustainability efforts.

Commencement ceremonies are scheduled as follows:

  • 3 p.m., Friday, May 9: College of Education and Professional Studies bachelor’s degree candidates, except psychology undergraduates;
  • 7 p.m., Friday, May 9: College of Education and Professional Studies psychology undergraduates and Jackson College of Graduate Studies master’s degree candidates;
  • 10 a.m., Saturday, May 10: College of Business bachelor’s degree candidates;
  • 2 p.m., Saturday, May 10: College of Fine Arts and Design and College of Mathematics and Science bachelor’s degree candidates; and
  • 6 p.m., Saturday, May 10: College of Liberal Arts bachelor’s degree candidates.

Limited parking to the west of the field house will be reserved for the elderly and those with disabilities. All campus parking spaces, except those in the reserved lot to the west side of the field house, will be open during the commencement events for those attending ceremonies.

Guests attending ceremonies without tickets will be admitted following the national anthem if space is available. Those without tickets may view the ceremonies on video monitors located in the south foyer of the field house as space permits.

A live webcast of each ceremony, accessible on most personal computers and internet-enabled mobile devices, will be available online at The live streams will begin approximately 20 minutes before each ceremony.
