UCO COMMUNICATIONS STAFF RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE

The Oklahoma College Public Relations Association (OCPRA) recognized University of Central Oklahoma Assistant Vice President for University Relations Adrienne Nobles, APR, and Communications and Marketing Coordinator Lindsay Thomas for excellence in the field of public relations during the 2015 OCPRA and Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education Communicators Council Fall Workshop held Nov. 18 in Oklahoma City.

“This is a great honor for Adrienne and Lindsay, for our office, and for the university. Recognizing the excellent work they do every day, these awards come as no surprise to me,” said Charlie Johnson, UCO vice president for University Relations.

“It is very gratifying to know that Adrienne and Lindsay are being recognized by their peers from throughout the state for the outstanding work they do for all of us at UCO.”

Nobles, who has worked in higher education communications and marketing for nearly 14 years, received the Natalea Watkins Higher Education Communicator of the Year Award. The award recognizes an outstanding communicator from the network of communication professionals promoting higher education in Oklahoma who demonstrates leadership that has positively influenced the recipient’s institution as well as the state system of higher education.

Thomas, who joined Central in 2013, received the Randy Talley Rising Star Award. The award recognizes a rising communications, marketing or public relations higher education professional in Oklahoma who has demonstrated creativity, innovation, advocacy, expertise and integrity in their field.

Founded in 1969, OCPRA brings together professional communicators from public and private institutions of higher education in Oklahoma to promote higher education in the state as a means to enrich its citizens and economy. For more information about OCPRA, visit www.ocpra.org.
