University of Central Oklahoma alumnus Kory Atcuson, who received his Master of Public Administration (MPA) from UCO, recently established the Dr. Brett Sharp Scholarship for Public Administration in the UCO College of Liberal Arts to honor his former political science professor, Brett Sharp, Ph.D.

The scholarship will be awarded annually to an MPA student who shows a commitment to academic excellence and outstanding professional experience in public administration.

“I am so honored and privileged to be recognized by one of my former students through this wonderful scholarship,” Sharp said.

“This is a very generous example of paying it forward to the next generation. Since the scholarship benefactor, Kory Atcuson, is now pursuing a city management career, it’s also a shining example of the continuing partnership between UCO and the City Management Association of Oklahoma (CMAO).”

During his time at UCO, Atcuson was a student representative on the board of CMAO, a professional association of more than 150 members, including city managers, department heads, affiliate industry professionals, and MPA professors and students. He is now the chief diversity and equity officer/city clerk for the city of Edmond.
