UCO’s College of Liberal Arts Hosts ‘An Hour for an Hour’ Fundraising Event

The University of Central Oklahoma’s College of Liberal Arts will host its ninth annual “An Hour for an Hour” event 5:30–7:30 p.m. Sept. 21, at the CHK|Central Boathouse, 732 Riversport Drive, to raise funds for the Finney Scholars Scholarship Fund. All members of the community are invited to attend, supporting efforts to continue the scholarship fund, which benefits Liberal Arts students each year.

“The genius of this event is that it’s meant to underscore the cost associated with one hour of tuition at UCO. Everyone is invited to mingle and enjoy refreshments, learn about the college’s outstanding students and programs and contribute one hour’s worth of tuition, which this year translates to $205.35,” said Catherine Webster, Ph.D., dean of the College of Liberal Arts.

“I’m delighted to welcome our alumni and friends to the beautiful boathouse, where we hope to raise $20,000 in scholarships that support students from our eight departments.”

The Finney Scholars Scholarship Fund was founded in 2008 in honor of the College of Liberal Arts’ first dean, Frank Finney, Jr., Ph.D. In March 2010, “An Hour for an Hour” was created to increase scholarship dollars and to give donors the opportunity to hear about the positive impact of the community’s support on the lives of the college’s scholarship recipients.
