UCO Center for Active Living and Learning to Host Open House, Feb. 28

The Center for Active Living and Learning (CALL), a program dedicated to health and fitness for those 60 or older, will host an open house 3-5 p.m. Feb. 28 at the University of Central Oklahoma’s Wellness Center, Room 134, located on the northwest side of Central’s campus.

The event will showcase CALL’s new four-week class, titled DANCE, and also will highlight other CALL classes geared toward those 60 and over, which include:

  • Balance, Agility, Loving and Learning (BALL),  training that focuses on balance and stability, using various balls and other balance training equipment;
  • Integrated Movement (MOVE), training with a focus on stretching, strengthening and balance;
  • SPRT, training which focuses on quick movements to improve agility, strength and balance;
  • LIFT, strength training using free weights, medicine balls and body weight exercises; and,
  • Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL), comprehensive training designed to help individuals stay independent and active.

Participants in the Feb. 28 DANCE class should wear attire that is breathable and allows for movement and athletic/tennis shoes. Guests also will hear testimonies from current members. The event is open to the public, with no RSVP needed. Refreshments will be served.           

CALL is a learning laboratory operated by faculty and students in the UCO Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies. Members are accepted year-round.
