UCO CO-OP Esports and Gaming Arena Named Among Top Esports Arena in US

The University of Central Oklahoma’s CO-OP Esports and Gaming Arena is named among the top 22 esports arenas in the U.S. according to ggCircuit, a software service for premium esports venues. Central is the only higher education institution in the state recognized on the list. 

Arenas chosen for the distinction were selected from venues currently using the ggLeap esports venue management platform. Currently, 690 active venues are supported by ggCircuit, of which 100 are universities. The UCO CO-OP Esports and Gaming Arena is joined on the list by prominent esports venues, such as the HyperX Esports Arena in Las Vegas and the University of California, Berkeley.

“We are proud of the work we have done to establish the CO-OP as an important player in the Oklahoma esports community. This has allowed us to be mentioned alongside other leading national esports venues,” said Victor Silva, director of UCO’s CO-OP Esports and Gaming Arena.

“This recognition by ggCircuit, who we have worked closely with to operate our arena since the beginning, shows UCO’s commitment to esports in the athletic and academic realms, which provides a continued path to growth for our university.” 

The UCO CO-OP Esports and Gaming Arena is the official home of UCO Esports, a National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) member, and UCO’s varsity-level esports program. 

Additionally, UCO Esports hosts several Edmond Public Schools esports teams for practice and competitions, as well as serving as a collaborator for the YMCA esports program. The UCO CO-OP Esports Gaming Arena will also host the first Oklahoma Secondary Activities Association (OSSAA) Esports State Championship in spring 2022. 

The CO-OP Esports and Gaming Arena is open to the public daily, 5 p.m. to midnight Monday – Thursday, 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and 2 p.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday. Rates vary depending on duration of play. Those with a valid UCO ID are eligible for discounted rates.
