The University of Central Oklahoma will host the annual Asian Moon Festival at 6 p.m., Sept. 24 at Plunkett Park located on Central's campus, welcoming the university and community to celebrate Asian culture.

Sponsored by Central's office of Multicultural Student Services and the Asian American Student Association, the festival will bring Asia's rich cultures to the Edmond community by featuring live singers, a magician, face painting, a live dragon dance and a play with audience participation.

"The Asian Moon Festival continues to grow and has become one of the most looked forward to events at Central," said MeShawn Conley, director of Central's Office of Multicultural Student Services.

The Chinese Moon Festival is a traditional celebration of the fall and harvest season, and Central's celebration will feature various other Asian cultures in addition to China.

"It really is a great opportunity for people to come out and experience Asian culture. Parents and children are sure to have a great time," said Conley.

The festival is free and open to the public, and all children will receive free treats and goody bags.
